Mercedes DeFeo works on our estate planning, probate court, and business cases. Mercedes has a passion for helping people and works diligently alongside our attorneys to help clients accomplish their legal goals, whether it be through drafting comprehensive and concise documents, effectively communicating with clients, or facilitating signings.
 
Mercedes graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Political Science from the University of Rhode Island, where she was Chairperson of the Student Entertainment Committee, a member of Women in Law, a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and a volunteer with Clean Water Action. During her time at URI, Mercedes interned for the Law Office of Saikon Gbehan, working in immigration law to aid those seeking asylum in the United States.  She received her Paralegal Certificate from George Mason University after graduating from URI.
 
Mercedes is originally from northern New Jersey. She moved to North Carolina prior to graduation in 2022, where she began her legal career in Document Processing for Epiq Global Systems with Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. She then worked as a Paralegal in both probate and estate planning. Mercedes joined Jesson & Rains in December of 2024.
